We at Korpoström are a small but passionate group of multidisciplinary experts who together run Archipelago Center Korpoström. Our goal is to offer visitors a unique experience in the archipelago, and at the same time promote the sustainable development of the area. We want to do our part in ensuring that the sea and the surrounding nature remain beautiful and healthy for future generations as well.
We also act as a field station for Åbo Akademi, whose research focuses on experimental marine ecology. In addition to the diving work, the station participates in the inventory of the marine and coastal nature of the Baltic Sea. The focus of the research is the distribution and function of plant and animal communities in the littoral zone, biogeochemistry of sediments and functional biodiversity research. In addition, Metsähallitus, which operates in the archipelago center, has marine biological activities on site, and the Turunmaa Archipelago Foundation has an office, the goal of which is to work for the living archipelago by promoting and supporting year-round living in the archipelago, as well as moving there. Act to ensure that the production resources of the archipelago are used by the islanders, and in other ways promote sustainable economic, ecological and socio-cultural development in the Turku archipelago.
Together, we aim for every visitor to leave our archipelago center full of new experiences, memories of the beauty of the archipelago and an understanding of its diversity.
