RO, RO TILL FISKESKÄR
Fishing was the main industry in the Åland archipelago until the 1950s. The most important was herring fishing in the late summer and fall. The families then moved out to
the fisheries in the outermost archipelago and stayed there for the duration of the season. Den saltade strömmingen såldes till Stockholm, Reval och Helsingfors. The movie was filmed in Kökar
in the south-eastern archipelago of Åland. The actors in the film have experienced this time themselves and have actively participated in fishing in the past.

EN FEST FÖR FRAMTIDEN (1996)
A documentary about some people on the island of Kökar in the outer archipelago of Åland. An island of 300 people suddenly thrust into the EU and everything changes.

HAVSFOLK (1998)
A documentary about three Åland fishermen. The film tells the story of trawler fisherman Tor who is faced with the prospect of having to chop up his boat, which has been his life for almost thirty years.

LÅNG RESA TILL MÖTE (2001)
A journey through time and foreign lands, the film tells the story of seafaring and a different lifestyle. It is a documentary about longing, loss and the realization of dreams. The film is illustrated by the sailors’ own film footage from the 1950s and 60s.

POMMERN – HUNDRA ÅR MED EN FRAKTSEGLARE (2004)
The four-masted barque Pommern in Mariehamn is today the only major sailing merchant ship in the world that has been preserved in its original condition. In August 2003, the Pommern’s centenary was celebrated and sailing ships with crews from all over the world came to Mariehamn to pay their respects. After fifty years as
museum ship, she has now achieved a fame she never had while sailing the world’s oceans.

DEN LYCKLIGA KON (2003)
”Den lyckliga kon” is a documentary about one man’s love and concern for animals. It is also a story of one person’s great sacrifice and stubborn struggle to hold on to a lifestyle and culture that is irreversibly disappearing.

EDOS MACK
While life has moved on, time has stood still at Edos Mack outside Mariehamn. Very little has changed in the small yellow house next to the highway since the 1950s, and the overflowing shelves along the walls are filled with a wide variety of goods, many of them long since expired.

DANSKUNGEN
Birger from Åland loves to dance. He has been dancing for more than sixty years and his interest only grows with age. He does everything to keep his legs in shape. Life is over if he has to give up dancing.

HERTIGINNANS SISTA RESA (2013)
The Åland barque Herzogin Cecilie was one of the largest and most famous sailing ships in the world at the time. She was part of Gustaf Erikson’s fleet of sailing ships and was his flagship. In April 1936, the ship ran aground in the English Channel. After a successful voyage from Australia with wheat in her cargo, she arrives in Falmouth and is celebrated as the winner of the Grain Race, the great sailing ship race between Australia and Europe. Seven and a half hours after leaving Falmouth, she sails straight up the cliffs of the Devon coast.

BLAND KOR, BJÖRKAR OCH PALETTER
A film about the Önningeby colony, an artist colony that emerged in Åland at the end of the 19th century around the artist Viktor Westerholm. The colony can be described as a Swedish-Finnish equivalent of the
the more famous artists’ colony in Skagen, Denmark.

POJKEN SOM VILLE TILL AMERIKA
A drama documentary about the inventor and eccentric Uno Ekblom from Eckerö Åland who stunned the world when he took his small boat from Eckerö to New York in the summer of 1939. Uno broke a world record – the boat was the smallest motorboat ever to cross the Atlantic. It is also a
